Providence values the role of the birth doula as part of the pregnancy, labor, and birth team. Providence contracts with birth doulas to support families with Medicaid insurance. The program aims to advance birth equity for childbearing families by increasing access to doulas for patients with Medicaid insurance, promoting doulas as an integrated part of the birthing team, and sponsoring doula training in underrepresented communities.
Patients receive two support visits before delivery, continuous in-hospital labor and delivery support, and two support visits after delivery. These services are provided by a professionally trained doula and are covered by Medicaid insurance. There is no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.

Breastfeeding Support when You Need It Most.

I became a lactation consultant in 2016 with the goal to provide evidence-informed care for new parents and their babies. My humble beginning as a postpartum doula for singletons and multiples in 2014 put the pieces of my career puzzle together for me. I feel that when you help a new parent nurture their baby, you are helping the entire family feel nurtured.

A simple equation I follow is a well-fed baby at the breast/chest= a happy baby = a happy family. My goal is to help you meet your goals.

I have been living my mission for 4+ years. I enjoy every day and every moment of my work. I bring a lot of skills and experience to the families I work with. I have a variety of ways I support the families I serve, and those include kangaroo care for full-term newborns, breast/chest feeding support, postpartum doula care packages, private as well as group classes on TummyTime!â„¢ method, infant massage, infant care, and breastfeeding/chestfeeding, support for adoptive parents and more.

From their website:
People Who are Postpartum Are Sacred.
Every family situation is unique and therefore the way that I work with families is unique. Each postpartum session is tailored to the individual needs of your family each time we're together.
Above all, my role as your postpartum doula is to be your partner. To be your witness. To honor and support you. To hold your time of transition into parenthood with love and tenderness. And to welcome you into your new role as a parent.

Their parents support group and working moms support groups are currently on pause due to low attendance.
Current offerings include online sleep support group.

Birthing from Within was founded in 1998 by midwife Pam England when she realized that something was missing from birth preparation in our culture.
While lots of organizations address parents' brains and bodies, very few address their hearts.
Birthing from Within works to fill that gap by providing parents with preparation for the deep psychological and emotional transformations of birth.
Birthing from Within helps parents…
-
build flexibility, resilience, and coping skills, so that they are less vulnerable to birth trauma.
-
combine practical medical knowledge with the power of embodied practice, ritual, story, and artmaking for authentic preparation and healing.
-
detach their sense of self-worth from medical outcomes.
-
stay connected with themselves, their babies, and their partners as they navigate the complex journey of birth.

I want to create a safe, informative, and authentic space where women can get curious, ask their tough questions and feel a little more supported by the collective wisdom of other mothers. Though every woman's journey is unique, we all come out on the other side a different person. Let's support one another while getting there.
Join me on this transformation!
Our in person mom group meets weekly for 8 weeks at the Laurelhurst Club in Portland, OR. Moms get a chance to connect with other moms who are on a similar journey, while gaining some insight from community resources

Spinning Babies® is a physiological approach to preparing for and caring for birth.
Daily Activities
Lengthen muscles and increase range of motion in your pregnant body to make space for baby’s best birth position.
Out of the stress and into your stretch
Regular, gentle movement like walking and stretches will often ease pain, improve digestion and elimination, or increase energy to do more in life. Linked are some activities to do each day or as often as you can. Even short, regular routines are better than long but rare exercise. And, once a week is better than once!

Droplet’s mission is to encourage parents to take advantage of this critical window with the most effective breastfeeding techniques in order to prevent common challenges. What happens (or doesn’t happen) in the earliest hours matters the most.
The cornerstone of successful breastfeeding is a plentiful milk supply. We will help mothers go into delivery understanding that milk removal in the first few hours, either by the baby, herself or her partner, is the key for future milk production. Simply put, it’s early milk out, later milk in.

Hands are still nature’s best tools. Cutting-edge research shows that hands are the most effective and comfortable way to remove milk in the first 2-3 days. In fact, frequent hand expression in the first three days, combined with electric pumping boosts production for weeks in pump-dependent mothers. Whether these droplets go to your baby, are stored, or are let out in the shower, you are safeguarding your breastfeeding experience one droplet at a time.

Hello! Thank you for visiting Portland Lactation. We are Melissa Curry, IBCLC and Rosemary Ragusa, IBCLC formerly of Natural Latch, a lactation practice founded by Meg Stalnaker, IBCLC. Meg was not only our mentor but is also a gifted lactation consultant and a trailblazer of infant and parental care in the Portland area. In 2023, Meg took a step back from home consultations, passing the Natural Latch torch to us. Over time, we have found our own rhythm and have decided on a new name, Portland Lactation! Original, right?

We have been supporting families to meet their feeding goals since 2018. We love working with families in the pivotal time that is pregnancy and the early postpartum. Our work is infused with a passion for empathy and inclusivity. We believe that every family deserves the best possible support for their feeding journey and we hope to be your guides along the way.

We are always working to become in-network with various health insurance providers so that we may provide excellent service, covered by your insurance plan.
